First gliders collected in 2004 (Feb)

A journey was made to collect vintage gliders from three different pilots and a video camera was taken to interview each pilot in turn. The first collection was from Wayne bevan (photo) at J3 M3 (M 165, Lm Cobra, Typhoon 180). Second was from Damon Robinson at J7 M26 (Commanche and Scotts Kite Harness) and the third was at Horley to collect Martin Powell's Superscorpion (alti+vario and stirup harness plus parachute plus seated harness).

A kind donation by Chis Corston (April)

Chris Corston was one of the early pioneers who helped create the British Hang Gliding Association. Without this organisation being formed, free flying today would be virtually impossible. Chris donated his entire collection of Hang gliding magazines to the museum, which go right back to the beginning of the sport. The museum also filmed a short interview with Chris, detailing he's interest and passion for flying.

A rare Kestrel Kites donation (June)

The long wait for the right collection opportunity for the Kestrel Kites Windhover 2, finally arrived, and now the glider is part of the BHGM collection. John Allen donated this glider to us last year. He bought the glider 1975 and managed to get nearly five years of flying from it.

Three new Hiways (July)

The first Hiway was donated by Simon Gene (photo right), the model 5.3/80, this glider was the second glider designed by Hiway. The second Hiway was a Vulcan, donated by André Ronteltap from Holland . A friend of his, David Kinlan (photo below) kindly brought the glider over from Holland to the museum at Weston-s-Mare. This was the first donation from abroad. The third Hiway was a Demon , donated by Peter Wood, who now flies paragliders.
